Portraiture
Beyond physical likeness, Gabriel's portraits explore the complexity of human identity - the traces of experience, the passage of time and the emotions that shape who we become. Through expression, colour and texture, each portrait invites us to look beyond the visible face and encounter the individual within.
Every Ulysses Deserves a Penelope
In Homer's Odyssey, Ulysses journeys across seas while Penelope remains in Ithaca.
But what if Penelope has travelled too?
Through expressive colour, a knowing smile, and the luminous wings of a Ulysses butterfly, Gabriel explores identity, transformation, and belonging.
The portrait asks a simple question: Where is Ithaca?
Perhaps Penelope has her own odyssey, too.

Domina Virginia
Domina Virginia portrays Virginia Romeghea, the artist's mother-in-law, painted at eighty.
The portrait is built around the seasons of her life: silver carries winter, burgundy holds warmth, and gold gathers through the folds as memory - the richness of what has been lived, loved and kept. Her gaze belongs beyond the frame, toward what is still to come.

Shape of D
A contemporary figure emerges through gold and texture, carrying echoes of Byzantine imagery into the present.
A portrait preserves a person. An icon adds something: myth, memory, projection, power — perhaps even a kind of symbolic immortality.
Gold becomes splendour, ornament, armour and artifice. The figure is presented to be looked at, yet her gaze returns ours.
